Pumpkin Beer #10: Tyranena Painted Ladies Spice Ale
I've never heard of Tyranena Brewing Co. before, but my BBFF was recently in WI and made a point to stop at one of her fave breweries and bring back their Fall seasonal for me to sample. A gracious donation indeed! Painted Ladies Spice Ale is an amber that's stronger than anticipated, and the carbonation is just right, delivering the spices (cinnamon and nutmeg, most notably) perfectly. Finishes with a sweetness that isn't overbearing.
Beer Bitch Grade: A-

Pumpkin Beer #11: Shipyard's Smashed Pumpkin
I've never had the pleasure of indulging in Maine's Shipyard "Pugsley's Signature Series" Smashed Pumpkin until now. And, shit, it's a doozy. It may poor a nice copper, and it may smell like pumpkin pie, but it's very malty, super spicy (lots of nutmeg, but prominent touches of cinnamon, ginger and cloves), surprisingly hoppy, and damn strong! And yes, as the above photo indicates, I finally got me a Boot from Hell.
Smashed Pumpkin sounds like something I would like.
